Little Transformations
with
Victoria Worsley
Feldenkrais for Performance
7th September 2025
10-1pm | Sadler’s Wells, London
What is it that makes us read stories into people before they even speak? How do we decide they are diffident, out-going, self-interested, empathetic? That their story contains sadness, violence, abundance or loss?
What do we see in the little ways people stand, move, gesture differently that is the ‘tell’ without us - or them - knowing? But if we can be more aware of the habitual ways we stand and move through the world ourselves, we may be able to find more nuanced variations and new possibilities that give us insight into our own patterns, and invite the audience to read us differently when we wish to tell another story.
In this workshop we will use small, slow, detailed Awareness Through Movement lessons from the Feldenkrais Method, as well as acting games, to follow what we feel, avoid caricature and explore the little differences that make all the difference.
A Workshop with Tanztheater
Adrian Look
Small Stories of Big Contexts
7th September 2025
2-5pm | Sadler’s Wells, London
In this three hour workshop we will be embodying the Tanztheater philosophy by combining authenticity and depth of thought and movement with technical precision and pervasive improvisation. Perfect for anyone looking to finesse their interpretation of deep emotion through movement.
We shall focus on the unique Questioning and Answering approach, developed by Pina Bausch, to examine the connection between the big topics of our (and any) time and how we can speak of something big
by doing something rather little.
In the Tanztheater philosophy honesty and authenticity are the driving forces for our creations, so how can we say a lot by doing a simple action or movement? The answers lie in the subtlety, intention and intensity of our explorations, both inner and outer.
