Our Community of Actors, Dancers, Movers & Makers

Who we are

The Troupe is made up of actors, dancers, physical performers, movement practitioners and creative makers.

Our members bring experience in motion capture, dance, physical theatre, parkour, aerial, puppetry, combat, mime, creature performance, choreography, movement direction and much more.

Some are established and agent represented; others are developing new skills, creative pathways and collaborations.

We come together to move, learn, train, share knowledge and connect, supporting each other creatively and professionally while discovering new ways of working.

Our members work across film, television, theatre, animation, VR/XR, immersive and live performance, as well as photographic and other creative projects. The Troupe reflects the breadth of movement and performance itself: different disciplines, different experiences, different creative journeys, brought together through a shared interest in movement and making.

What does it mean to be part of the Troupe?

At the heart of Shapes in Motion are four things: Move. Play. Connect. Develop.

The Troupe takes those values further, creating an ongoing community where you can Discover new ideas, people and possibilities, and Belong to a creative network that continues beyond any one workshop or project.

Connections, community & opportunities

Build relationships with other actors, movers, dancers and creative practitioners through the Troupe's online community, studio gatherings, shared experiences and events.

Whilst the Troupe is not an agency that guarantees work, we do have strong relationships with directors, producers, casting professionals and creative teams across film, television, theatre, anniation and live performance. When relevant opportunities come our way, and there is a suitable fit, we often recommend Troupe members for consideration.

Keep your Troupe profile and details up to date so we know what you're working on, what skills you bring and what kinds of opportunities may be a good fit.

Our troupe coordinator

The Troupe is coordinated by Sarah Perry founder of Shapes in Motion and a Movement Director, Movement Choreographer and Movement, Character & Performance Coach working across film, television, theatre, animation and immersive productions.

Sarah brings together her experience across movement, performance and the creative industries with her wider network of practitioners, directors, producers, casting professionals and organisations to develop opportunities, conversations and connections for the Troupe.

As Troupe Coordinator, Sarah oversees the programme of events and gatherings, welcomes new members, facilitates connections within the community and continues to develop the Troupe in response to the needs and interests of its members.

Our history

Shapes in Motion has been supporting and moving professional performers since 2010, building relationships over the years with a wide network of creatives, movement practitioners, companies, facilitators and performers across the industry.

2016 - The MoCap Troupe

The MoCap Troupe was formed as a group of emerging motion capture performers, creating a dedicated community for performers developing their skills and experience within this growing field. Many of those early members have gone on to establish themselves within the MoCap industry, with some continuing to work at the forefront of motion capture and performance.

2022 - The Troupe Expands

The Troupe opened its doors beyond motion capture, bringing together movers from across a much wider range of movement disciplines and creative practices. Today, the Troupe includes both emerging talent and highly experienced practitioners, creating opportunities to share knowledge, develop skills, make connections and learn from one another.

The Troupe continues to evolve alongside the people who make up our community and the changing worlds of movement and performance.
